Safety
oldstreets is a small place for one school. Here is what we ask of you, what happens when you report something, and what we can and can’t see. Read it once; it’s short.
The rules
Be decent. Treat people the way you’d treat them in the hallway with a teacher standing there.
No threats. Not as a joke, not “hypothetically.” A threat gets the post removed and your account banned.
No doxxing. No addresses, phone numbers, schedules, photos of someone’s house, or anything else that tells people where to find someone.
No sexual content. None. Most people here are under 18.
Don’t target people by name in anonymous posts. Anonymous mode is not for calling someone out where they can’t answer you. If you have something to say about a person, say it with your name on it or don’t say it here.
What anonymity is for. (the agreement you accept on the Wall)

Anonymity is for spreading kindness while not feeling cringy and spreading love while not feeling like a dork, so Apple doesn't get pissed.

How to report

Every post by someone else has a report link. Click it, say what’s wrong in a sentence, send. That’s it.

A human reads every report. There is no automated filter deciding for you. Right now that human is the founder.

We aim to respond within 24 hours. Removing a post, warning someone, or banning them happens then. You won’t always be told what we did, but the report is never ignored.

Serious threats — to a person, to the school — go to school staff, and if needed, to the police. We will hand over what we have, including who posted it. Anonymous mode does not change this.

If someone is in danger right now, don’t wait on us: call 911.

Blocking & anonymity

Anonymous to schoolmates, identified to us. An anonymous post hides your name from other students. It does not hide it from us. Every post is tied to a real school-email account.

Bans stick. A banned account can’t come back under a new name, because the school email is the account.

We never show who is chatting with whom. Presence shows that someone is online or in a chat, never who they are talking to. Not to friends, not on profiles, not anywhere.

We never tell you who hearted you or who wrote you a letter unless it’s mutual. Counts you see are real counts; nothing is made up to keep you checking.
